Conference on “Slovakia Perceives the Belt and Road Initiative and China-CEEC Cooperation” successfully held in Bratislava, Slovakia

On September 9, 2019, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovakia, the China-CEE Institute and the University of Economics in Bratislava, jointly hosted a conference titled by “How Slovakia Perceives the Belt and Road Initiative and China–CEEC Cooperation”. Scholars from China and Slovakia conducted in-depth discussions on issues such as Sino-Slovakia relations, China–CEEC Cooperation and so on.

 

Prof. Chen Xin, Deputy Director-General of the Institute of European Studies in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS)and Executive President of the China-CEE Institute, and Prof. Boris Mattoš, Vice-Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, delivered the opening remarks.

Mr. Lin Lin, the Chinese Ambassador to Slovakia and Ms. Denisa Žiláková, the Director General for Central Coordination Body, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak for Investments and Informatization, made keynote speeches.

 

The conference consists of three seminars, about China and 17+1 cooperation, trade and investment between China and Slovakia, and people-to-people exchanges. Representatives from Slovakia Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the University of Economics in Bratislava, the Institute of European Studies in CASS, the Institute of World Economics and Politics in CASS, the Institute of Russian, East European & Central Asian Studies in CASS and Sichuan University attended the meeting.

 

Before the conference, Prof. Boris Mattoš, Vice-Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava met with the Chinese delegation and exchanged views on the cooperation between the two sides.
