On 26 July 2022, Prof. Chen Xin, Executive President as well as Managing Director of the China-CEE Institute, delivered a lecture entitled “Prosperity through development”. The Institute’s non-resident researchers, researchers from partner institutions and other scholars participated in the lecture. Dr. Ma Jinxing, Project Manager of China-CEE Institute, moderated this lecture.
In this lecture, Prof. Chen speaks that China’s prosperity has been built on the basis of peaceful development in the past four decades. It did not seek prosperity through war expansion, foreign colonization, and did not export ideology. China is the only major country in the world today that achieves prosperity through peaceful development. This has had the greatest impact on global increase and progress. The capacity, meanwhile, of market participants has been increased by integration into the global economy. Additionally, a functioning government can increase the development of infrastructure’s spillover effects and strengthen macroeconomic policy’s resistance to geopolitical turbulence. Prof. Chen thinks that this is the China’s pattern: Prosperity Through Development.
The lecture lasted about one and half hours in total. During the Q & A session, the participants posed several questions about the possible policies to boost consumption and demand in China, Global Gateway Initiative, China’s plan on climate change, the future vision of CAI of China and EU, etc.
