Zoom Lecture: Dual Circulation: International Comparisons and Inspirations

On 23 February 2022, the China-CEE Institute invited Prof. YANG Panpan, Senior Research Fellow of the Institute of World Economy and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, to deliver a lecture entitled “Dual Circulation: International Comparisons and Inspirations”. The Institute’s non-resident researchers and researchers from partner institutions participated in the lecture.

In this lecture, Prof. YANG answered questions based on international comparisons: What are the “dual circulation” patterns of the United States, the European Union, and Japan compared to China? What enlightenment can the EU’s integration bring to China’s construction of the” dual circulation” pattern? What kind of “dual circulation” pattern is China’s future development direction? Based on the answers, Prof. YANG argued that the “dual circulation” new development pattern has three aspects: smooth domestic circulation, promoting domestic and international dual circulation, accelerating the cultivation of the domestic demand system.

The lecture lasted about one hour in total. During the Q & A session, the participants posed several questions about the technological innovation within the framework of the “dual circulation” strategy, how could the dual circulation in practice facilitate the transition to a high-quality, consumption-driven economy, etc.
