China’s Foreign Aid: Tradition and Change

About the Lecture

What is unique about China as an international development actor? What kinds of traditions and inventions China upholds in the field of international development cooperation? Who are China’s main development partners around the world? What are the characteristics and methodologies of China Aid? and what kinds of lessons China has learned? This lecture shall try to answer those questions by briefing the history of China’s foreign aid policy since 1950, with special emphasis on the changes in the 21th century and possibly with an outlook into future.

About the Speaker

Professor Hong ZHOU obtained her Ph.D. from Brandeis University. She is a Member of Academic Divisions of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a delegate of the 12th and 13th National People’s Congress. Her research interests include Welfare State, European studies, and international development cooperation.
