Academic conference “China and Hungary: 70 years of diplomatic relations” was successfully held in Budapest, Hungary

 

On September 23, 2019, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, China-CEE Institute and The Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hungary, jointly organized an academic conference “China and Hungary: 70 years of diplomatic relations” in Budapest, Hungary. Scholars from China and Hungary have conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as Sino-Hungarian political relations, economic relations, and people-to-people exchanges over the past 70 years.

Prof. Chen Xin, Deputy Director-General of the Institute of European Studies in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS)and Executive President of the China-CEE Institute, and Mr. Márton Ugrósdy, the Director of the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade, delivered the opening remarks. Mr.Liu Bo, the Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, and Ms.Cecília Szilas, the Chief Adviser of the Hungarian Prime Minister, delivered keynote speeches.

The conference is divided into three panels: Increasing importance of economic ties, Development policies and perceptions, and Cultural dimension of Sino-Hungarian relations. Representatives from various embassies and consulates in Hungary, as well as the Hungarian University of Applied Economics, the Kopint-Tárki Institute for Economic Research Co., the Pallas Athéné Geopolitical Institute, the Corvinus University, the Institute of European Studies in CASS and the Institute of Russian, East European & Central Asian Studies in CASS, totally around 100 people participated in this conference.
