Academic Seminar and Book Launch in Brussels: The EU-China Relations and 16+1 Cooperation—Scholars’ Views from Europe & China

On December 3, 2018, the Academic Seminar and Book Launch ” The EU-China Relations and 16+1 Cooperation—Scholars’ Views from Europe & China ” was successfully held in Brussels, Belgium. The conference was co-organized by the China-CEE Institute and the Antall Jozsef Knowledge Centre in Hungary. Representatives from the European Parliament, the European Union External Action Agency, the CEE countries embassies in the European Union, the Mission of China to the European Union, as well as the scholars from CEPS, College of Europe, University Sorbonne nouvelle, Universidad AutJnoma de Madrid and other institutions, totally about 40 People participated in this event.

Professor Huang Ping, President of the China-CEE Institute and Director-General of the Institute of European Studies, CASS, delivered his keynote speech and closing remark. Professor Chen Xin, Executive Vice-President of the China-CEE Institute and Director of European Economy Division of the Institute of European Studies, CASS, delivered his opening remark.

In the first panel, scholars discussed China’s forty-year reform and opening-up from the perspective of rule of law and economic development.

Then Professor Chen Xin launched the book entitled by “China-EU Relations and 16+1 Cooperation”. In the beginning of 2018, China-CEE Institute issued Call for Paper on “China-EU Relations and 16+1 Cooperation” and organized a conference according to this title in July of 2018. the Institute selected 11 papers for publication.

In the second panel entitled by “China-EU Relations and 16+1 Cooperation”, authors from France, Spain and Hungary gave speeches on their own papers.
