HOW THE CEE CITIZENS VIEW CHINA’S DEVELOPEMT

China’s trade relations play an increasing role in the Central and Eastern European countries. Citizens of the
region’s countries are also aware of this fact, but until now there were no available research that reflects the
public’s views on economic and trade development of the Central and Eastern European countries in connection
with China. To bridge over this gap, the China-CEE Institute Nonprofit Ltd. had announced a tender. GKI won
the tender and had prepared a study based on household surveys conducted in 16 countries in the CEE region.
Dr He Zhigao and Mr. Ma Junchi from the China-CEE Institute, as well as Dr. Li Danlin from the Institute of
Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies (CASS), had involved into the translation work from English
to Chinese.

Fifty-nine percent of adult population in the CEE countries evaluates China´s economic development in the
last 2 years fast (thirty-one very fast), while only six percent considers it slow. Using the EU conjuncture
research method, we transferred the answers 1 up to 5 into a -100-+100 scale, the average value is +41,
which indicates a fast development for China…
